Privacy Policy
Short version: complete result histories stay in this browser. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity only run if you accept analytics. Accepted analytics includes limited test events, session replay and heatmaps.
What is stored, and where
Test histories are kept in your browser's local storage under keys prefixed at_v1_. Records can include the result, timestamp, input method, test settings and details needed to render that tool's history. This complete local history is not uploaded as a history database. Clearing site data, or using the clear control in a history panel, deletes the corresponding local records.
Analytics: what we collect, and only after you say yes
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which instruments people actually use and how often a test is completed. Nothing is sent to Google until you press Accept on the banner — the tracking script is not even fetched before that choice is made. Once accepted, GA4 records page views and three custom events: test_start, test_complete (instrument name, the rounded reading, and whether it was flagged) and test_flagged. Your choice is remembered in this browser's local storage under at_consent.
Microsoft Clarity: session replay and heatmaps
After you accept analytics, we load Microsoft Clarity (project z0zlh1ym87) to understand how visitors use the site through session recordings and heatmaps. Clarity collects page interactions such as clicks, scrolling and mouse movements, page content (which can include displayed test results), and browser and device information. It may use cookies to recognise a browser across visits. We grant analytics storage and deny advertising storage through Clarity's consent API. No Clarity script is fetched before acceptance. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement for Microsoft's processing and retention practices.
What we deliberately do not do
AimTests currently uses no advertising, social pixels or third-party ad tech. Google Signals and ads personalisation are off. GA4 does not log or store full IP addresses. We do not currently sell personal information or use collected analytics for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Retention
Analytics event data is retained in GA4 for the configured retention window and then deleted by Google. Your own test history is kept in your browser indefinitely until you clear it; see the controls below.
Fonts and other third-party requests
AimTests typefaces are self-hosted and load from the same site as the page. Loading a font does not contact Google. Before analytics consent, the site does not fetch either analytics script; after acceptance, the browser connects to Google for GA4 and to Microsoft for Clarity as described above.
Server logs
When you visit AimTests, our server automatically records basic access logs, like most websites do: your IP address, browser user agent, the page path you visited and the time of your visit. We use these logs only to keep the service secure, troubleshoot issues and understand overall traffic patterns. We do not use them to identify individual persons.
Change your mind at any time
Your current choice is stored on this device only. Use these controls to switch it — rejecting revokes Clarity's storage consent and reloads the page to stop both analytics scripts. They stay blocked on subsequent visits until you accept again.
Children
AimTests is a general-audience measurement tool. It is not directed at children under 13.
Exercising your rights
You can delete local test history with the controls on each tool or by clearing site data. If you accepted analytics, access or deletion requests for analytics data can be directed to Google or Microsoft under their processes or to us at the contact address; we will act on data and settings we control.
Changes to this policy
This policy was last updated on October 23, 2026. If we change any method of data collection in the future, we will post an update on this page with a revised date.
Analytics consent on this browser
Current choice is read from this device. Changing it takes effect immediately and applies to every AimTests page in this browser.
