How AimTests ensures accuracy

Timing uses the browser's high-resolution clock rather than Date.now(), so results do not drift when the system clock adjusts. The signal onset is timestamped on the frame the colour actually paints, not on the call that changed the state — a distinction worth up to 16 ms on a 60 Hz display. Every round then passes the three honesty checks above before it can be stored.

Why is my reaction time slower on mobile?

Phones add touch-sampling and display pipeline latency — typically 20–60 ms versus a 240 Hz monitor with a wired mouse. That is physics, not you. Compare mobile readings against mobile readings.

What is a good reaction time?

Most adults land between 200–300 ms. Competitive FPS players average 150–200 ms. The percentile shown with your result is currently computed from a statistical model, not from our own users — we label it model-based until there is enough real data to publish a genuine distribution.

Can I cheat this test?
Not meaningfully. Leaving the tab voids the round, tapping under 80 ms is treated as a prediction and excluded, and duplicate taps inside 100 ms are ignored.
Is 150 ms possible for a human?
Rare but real for sprinters and esports professionals on optimised setups — high refresh display, wired mouse, warm hands.
Does screen refresh rate matter?
Yes. A 60 Hz panel can add up to ~16 ms before your input is even considered, and touch screens add more on top of that.
