Spacebar Counter
How many distinct spacebar presses can you land? The first press starts the clock; OS key-repeat is discarded, so holding it down does nothing.
Leave the tab mid-test and the attempt is discarded, not scored.
Humans can't react faster than ~80ms. Faster taps are flagged and excluded.
Double-taps and macro bursts can't inflate a reading.
Why holding the key does nothing
When you hold a key, your operating system emits repeated events that look identical to fresh presses. We discard every event flagged as a repeat, so a held spacebar scores one press. That is also why the usual “how to cheat a spacebar counter” tricks — holding the key, taping it down, key-repeat macros — produce a score of one here instead of a thousand.
Which window should you use?
One second measures burst speed and is mostly luck. Five seconds is the community standard. Ten and thirty measure endurance, where most people fall off sharply after the first five seconds.
